Birthday Party details

Hosts may bring in any food or decoration items, but no alcohol. All decorations and food MUST stay in the classroom. There is a kitchen with a double refrigerator and freezer on the first floor of the Museum that the host may use, if reserved in advance. We ask that you leave the kitchen and the rental room as you found it. Cleaning supplies are available.

Once you have booked the party through the educator, we will charge a non-refundable $50 deposit to your credit card, send you a confirmation letter and contract. Once you receive the contract, please read it carefully and return the signed contract via mail or fax at 773.728.8870. The remaining balance is due the day of your event.

In order to ensure safety and comfort to all visitors, we ask that you and your guests follow these guidelines:

  • Food and drinks must remain in the classroom.
  • Children cannot be in the Museum unsupervised. There must be one adult for every five children to help with supervision in the Museum. Children under 6 years of age must be accompanied by an adult in the stuga (the little red house). It works best if you, the host, pick several adults to be in the Museum to help supervise your guests and encourage them to follow the Museum rules. The rules of the Museum are as follows:
    1. No running.
    2. No shouting.
    3. Keep shoes on unless in the beds.
    4. The items on the Sweden side must stay in the farm area and the items on the American side must stay on the far side of the boat. Visitors cannot bring items back and forth between the two houses.
  • Please remember to leave the Museum and classroom as you found it. Staff members can show you where cleaning supplies are kept and where to take the garbage. Please help us to remind children to help clean up in the Museum.
  • You may pay a Museum staff member your remaining rental fee (if applicable).
