Researching Your Swedish American Ancestors at Augustana’s Swenson Immigration Center
Speaker: Jill Seaholm, Head of Genealogical Services at the Swenson Immigration Center

Free for Swedish American Genealogical Society members.

The Swenson Center is a national and international research center dedicated to the study of Swedish American history and transatlantic relations. The center collects, preserves and provides access to archival and library materials, promotes and initiates scholarly research, and is a leader in Swedish American genealogy.

The Swenson Center supports research on Swedish immigration to North America, the communities immigrants established, and the role immigrants and their descendants have played in American life. This work is advanced through academic research initiatives and the collection and cataloging of Swedish American archival and library materials. The center also plays a key role in assisting individuals researching their Swedish American family history.

Join us Saturday, Jan. 24, via Zoom to meet Jill Seaholm, head of genealogical services at the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. An Augustana graduate, Seaholm has worked at the Swenson Center since the early 1990s, helping patrons with genealogy research and reconnecting families across the Atlantic. She leads the center’s annual genealogy workshop in Salt Lake City, oversees publication of Swedish American Genealogist, and recently began hosting the Swenson Center’s immigration history–themed tours in Sweden.
